Are you ‘In’ on Inclusivity?
Take everything you know. Take your whole selves. Be
inclusive. Be open. Make history in the infinite ways that your heart takes
you.
~Megan Smith
Are you “in” on inclusivity? When the question came up for
me I was quick to say “yes, of course, I am including everyone in my life!”
However, when I took a closer look I discovered some boundaries of inclusivity
within me. Amongst others there was the maybe on the driver who cut me off, a
not so sure on the friend who made snarky comments directed at my wife and a
probable no on the politicians who still seem to put personal gain over
community and peaceful conflict resolution.
Do I really have a “clue” about what inclusivity is really
about? Admitting this to myself I meditated and after a longer while sitting
with the question of what inclusivity feels like, I saw myself growing and
growing until I was able to embrace the entire globe of our earth. The feeling
of acceptance was present. Not simply a being OK yet staying indifferent, but an
acceptance in the sense of being interested in all, which I do not know or do
not understand about a person, group or situation. A loving acceptance with a
desire to recognize, truly see and grasp that, which life presents to me.
Within this acceptance I felt an aliveness, a vitality,
which I had not sensed before. There suddenly was activity in spaces I had
walked by, refreshing fragrances in life affirming words, and soul affirming sounds
in beautiful, vibrant colors. Simple names became profound novels and wrinkles
in faces were sermons of truth handed down from generation to generation. Life
is everywhere and nothing is excluded! This life calls for love and this loves
is unconditional. No boundaries, only full, unlimited and unrestricted being.
And there I felt my sí, the yes in inclusivity! Are you in?
Affirmation:
Today I open my arms even wider, and I spread my wings even
further. Everything exists in God and the Love that God is, is all inclusive!
