Primed For Transformation

November 16, 2017
You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.

~ Jalaluddin Rumi

Socio-political tensions, dangerous weather, the resurfacing of nuclear fears and head turning posts on Twitter or Facebook find their way in to casual conversations and common thinking every day. With all that going on it is liberating to drop the fantasy of there being a more perfect world, some other place, somewhere, and instead accept that we need to engage with the world as it is.

Even with all the things going on our world is fertile ground for our awakening. After all, it is the same mother earth, that gave birth to Jesus, Muhammad, the Buddha and the great role models of our time such as Gandhi, Mother Theresa, the Dalai Lama, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and Dr. Martin Luther King just to name a few.

While it is easy to become consumed by our fears and lose our balance, it is difficult to think about the challenges facing our planet and not to feel overwhelmed. We could go on and simply be drifting along in complacency, not wanting to deal with the world. But when things really touch us, we are primed for transformation. Because we are spiritual beings having a human experience, we cannot help but care about ourselves, our community and our planet.

When we experience our hearts and minds filled to the maximum with thoughts of fear, disaster, and despair, it is good to remember the other, much larger, side of this story: the many examples of human kindness, empathy, support, love and sanity, which are so easily overlooked.

We have the capacity to interrupt our fearful and despairing thoughts and investigate the cascade of opinions, speculations, and emotions stirred up in us. The glass is neither half empty, nor is it half full. It is just a glass with water in it.

Affirmation:

I am aware and I clearly see the depth of my transformation. My love is God’s love and so I place myself right in the midst of it all.
