Reflections

Don't try to steer the boat.
Don't open shop for yourself. Listen. Keep silent.
You are not God's mouthpiece. Try to be an ear,
And if you do speak, ask for explanations.

~Rumi, The Essential Rumi

Imagine yourself standing in front of a full body mirror. Now take the mirror's perspective and look back at yourself. What would you, the mirror, tell you, your physical you? There is no difference between the two of you, with the exception that one is a mirror of the other. So what would you, the physical you, like to hear from you, the mirror? Since both of you are the same you, it would not make sense to fight or argue with each other. Both of you are you.

Although this exercise might seem a bit silly at first, it brings home the point that you, the physical you, would not be more or less right than the mirrored you. If now you decide to be happy instead of right, then all the aspects of you that are you can only tell each other that which is loving, nurturing, life affirming and uplifting. Both you, the mirrored you and the physical you can now smile at each other and accept the oneness of each other. Suddenly life is good!

You are the gift God gave to Itself as you, so that you can look back at the world and reflect God in everything you see. Isn't it a wonderful task to discover and acknowledge God in everything? Each little detail of your experience suddenly becomes meaningful and awe inspiring, because it all reflects aspects of you back at you. What are you experiencing? Is it love itself or is it a pointer towards being more loving?

If you, your physical you, is mirrored in everything you experience and through everyone you come in contact with, than God is everywhere present. You are already home everywhere you go and you can never be separate from the Divine.

Affirmation:
I honor my uniqueness and I celebrate my oneness with God. I am a perfect, divine emanation of the Divine and God is fully present right where I stand. Life is good!
