Agape Love

Agape is the guiding instrument of God’s mysteries.

If we accept ourselves only as living in this world all our physical, emotional, and mental bodies seem to proof to us that everything we like must be close and darling, and anything we dislike must therefore be distant and unfriendly. Once we buy into these ideas of duality, we get into trouble either, because we take things personally and start to manipulate our environment so we can feel cherished and adored, or we take an impersonal approach, and behave aloof, cold, and not caring, so we won’t get hurt!

Yet the nature of God is transpersonal, transcendent and we are God’s offspring! Right at the beginning of the Old Testament, Genesis 1:26 tells us that we are created in God’s image. We carry God’s nature in us! However, because we experience ourselves only as individuals, we do not relate to our beingness as transpersonal, we generally only distinguish between personal and impersonal, where we label one as loving and the other as indifferent. Yet exactly because we are made in God’s image and likeness, we are transpersonal beings having a personal experience!

As soon as we free ourselves from the erroneous thinking that we are anything but transpersonal beings, that came into this world to be more loving in whatever situation, place, or relationship we find ourselves in, we also free each other from the limited viewpoints of duality of personal and impersonal.

The transpersonal does not need to manipulate. Only the personal and the indifferent does! Let’s go the way of wisdom and rise above the personal or impersonal and catch ourselves through our own observation. From this place we ascent above our drama and there is no more need to spiritualize our ego. Agape Love makes no commands or demands!

Agape Love is our state of being!
