Of Fire And Faith
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
~ Hebrews 11:1 (KJ21)
Living on an island in the middle of the Pacific brings with itself a deep appreciation of what community means and how community is alive and lived every day. I know in my bones that we are all unique, divine emanations of the one most high God, however, there are these times where situations and circumstances arise so abruptly, aggressively and force their way into one’s mind and heart, that all feelings and emotions seem to suddenly suggest that the physical rules the spiritual.
The fires on the island of Maui and the devastation it brought to the historic town of Lahaina was such an event where my mind seemed to have hit a wall that it could not penetrate, go around or leap over. Besides all the physical things that need to be addressed there is the direct emotional impact of family, friends and community being affected so forcefully, violently and vigorously.
In these situations it is such a wonderful blessing to have a spiritual community, to lean into the field of love and communion and to know the Truth together! There is only one God and no matter the situation and circumstance this one power is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, omniactive and absolute; and only this power provides and heals and we all have our beingness in It!
There is tremendous faith within the Maui community to stand strong and to re-build, but there is also the knowing of our oneness in God:
I Ke Kahi I Ke Kahi (One consciousness connects us)
E Ho'okahi Kahi Mana'o (We are One in our minds, thoughts and knowledge)
E Ho'okahi Pu'uwai (We are One in our hearts)
E Ho'okahi Malama Pono (We are One in truth and righteousness)
E Ho'okahi Aloha Mau. (We are One in enduring, infinite, and unconditional Love)
Affirmation:
The life of the Divine is my life and I allow for God to use me in whatever ways I am needed!
