The New Hero's Journey

Let this new year unfold like a new hero’s journey.

As in the classic way our journey begins with a calling. The Truth that always expresses Itself, beckons us to move beyond the familiar and to discover our true identity.

While we might have refused the call in the past or even mocked the Divine, today we are answering the call. As we cross the choice point from the ordinary world into the inner dimensions of our own being we get to face ourselves and all that which is lurking within our own minds. While we are changed, healed, and transformed we get to actively experience, see and create our human journey and take mindful, yet deliberate steps into the direction of who we want to become as renewed human beings.

On our journey we learn new ways of being and must integrate what we have learned into our daily personal spiritual practice.

In this newness of the journey we discover that there was never a mighty dragon outside of us to slay, but a fearful dragon inside of us to love, so that it is able to be with us on our journey as our new companion and our newly found pet-dragon.

After a certain degree of embodiment of what we have learned and experienced, the newly liberated sage within us must return home, speak from the heart and restore harmony, prosperity, and balance in all the villages that were previously left behind.

Compassion and mindfulness become the order of the day and it is on us to establish new paradigms and foundations of living. These new foundations are our legacy and will allow us to stand even taller and grow even deeper roots so that we are ready for the next wonderful and wonder-filled round around the sun!

Today I invoke love and all my actions are filled with mindfulness and compassion. God walks before me and my prayer is already answered!
